NGO Consultation
Judit Bayer represented HES at a workshop organised by the Eötvös Károly Institute (EKINT) and the Budapest Goethe Institute on 17 October 2017. Participants discussed the interests and responsibility of civil society in defending European values. How can NGO-s secure the common values declared in Article 2 of the European Treaty requesting the European institutions and their own national governments to account how they implement them? Speakers included Sándor Radnóti, the president of the broad of trustees of EKINT; Gábor Bojár, founder of Graphisoft; Zoltán Fleck, lawyer; András Polgár, writer; Endre Sik, sociologist and János Kárpáti, former correspondent of the Hungarian News Agency (MTI) in Brussels. In her contribution Judit Bayer pointed out that civil organizations in any member state have the right to request data of public interest related to national authorities and the European institutions investigating what the European Union has done for the realisation of European values in endangered member states and for what objectives European transfers have been spent in these countries.
